D-Day

Tomorrow is Dylan's due date. I think that puts into perspective just how early he was born!

Tomorrow we will have been in the NICU for 14 and a half weeks. 102 days.

Dylan has grown from 1 pound, 15 ounces to a whopping 6 pounds, ? ounces.

He has had 1 surgery, 7 blood transfusions, 6 eye exams, 4 head ultrasounds, 12 chest x-rays.

And now he's ready to go home. No, he doesn't know what home is. Me. I'm ready. (And Mike's ready too even though he doesn't know it yet.)

We still have the same barrier...eating. Dylan currently takes 55mls per feed. His record by bottle is now 30. He average is quickly approaching 25 which is a huge improvement. He's nippled 7 out of his last 8 feeds and 10 of his last 12. We only try to nipple (bottle feed) when he is awake, so he's waking more and more frequently.

There is no timeline. We will be here until he can do it all, but he gets stronger and stronger everyday so I am very optimistic he will get it soon.

We are having a lot more fun in the NICU due to his alertness! We got a penguin mirror that he just loves to stare at himself in. He responds to our voices and enjoys his toys and music. He can completely turn his head on his own when he's on his tummy!

He is just growing so fast!

So in a nutshell...when everyone asks when he will come home, I don't have an answer. But things are progressing well and it shouldn't be too much longer.
