This was definitely not my favorite week of Dylan's life, but it was definitely the biggest one. We moved to our new 20 million dollar home and we had heart surgery.
The move was on Tuesday. The nurses and doctors had been preparing for weeks and everything was organized down to matching T-shirts for the nurses and special onesies for the babies. (They just layed the onesies on top of the babies, because not one of the babies would actually fit in a normal sized onesie!)
Dylan was the second to last baby to be moved since we are still one of the "sicker" babies. Lovely. It was really weird being in the old NICU with just two babies. Eerie.
Dylan did not enjoy his move. He needed a high rate of Oxygen to recover and also had blood in his lungs after (just a little). He's had this before too, but it's not a good thing.
But boy was it nice to be able to close our door! They double staffed the nurses for the day and after everyone was moved, they didn't have much to do but be really loud and excited like little kids. I understand, but it was kind of annoying. There are also many more beeps since all of the monitors are connected to pagers. So if an alarm goes off (which happens extremely frequently and is usually not a big deal) the nurse and the charge nurse both get a page. Pagers are going off non-stop!
Another big benefit is that I can pump in the room instead of down the hall in a curtained room next to the milk freezers. Much better.

Dylan is starting to fill out around the face and limbs which is really cool! I think it's because he actually got almost a whole week of my breast milk. He had to stop feeding for surgery and recovery, but starting again yesterday.
Dylan's had a couple of "episodes" since his surgery where his Oxygen saturation drops (desats) and stays low. It should be 99-100% in older babies. For Dylan, the acceptable range is 83-93, but he keep dropping to the low 70's and even high 60's. There are a few ways to fix this, but all mean going up on the vent settings which is the opposite of what we want. We want off the vent!
We think he was probably in pain, so they started a morphine drip and he stabilized.
But he's still been up and down since then.
Thinking of you guys and praying for you!!! Stay strong momma!
