OMG My Mind is Blown!

OMG means Oh My Gosh for the older generations reading this blog : )

When I walked into the NICU on Wednesday, Jennifer was at the front desk and said that I had some surprises coming.  (She admittedly can't keep secrets.) : )  I thought maybe she was referring to trying the bottle, but wasn't sure if she'd know about that.  I also knew we were close to having the top up on the isolette since Dylan is pretty much regulating his own temperature and she said "Yep. That's one of them."  My next guess was that we were moving - and I was right.

But when I walked up to my room, there was a "big boy" crib sitting outside!  Not only was the top up, we were going to be moving down the hall to Neighborhood 2 AND Dylan was transferred to a regular crib!  I was almost nervous to have him out of his nice safe isolette, but the nurses know what he's ready for.

He looks so tiny in the giant crib!

Before we moved, we did try real breastfeeding and Dylan got his first bottle.  He didn't seem to like it much, but he'll get the hang of it eventually.  He only ate 2 mls from the bottle - but it's a start!  Kelly (my sister) was there to experience it so we got some good pics.  It's hard to see how small Dylan still is in the pictures I post, so there is some more scale in this pic.

Tomorrow we're moving down the hall a bit more to the home we had originally planned to be in.  We'll be in a room with a pocket door that shares with Dylan's old neighbor in the previous NICU.  He's 4 months old and his mom is there all the time and is really nice so now I'll have someone to chat with when Dylan is asleep.

In our previous room I think we've had 4 neighbors in the past week or so.  They're all giant full term babies that get released within a day or so.  It'll be nice to have some stability for awhile.

So Dylan continues to make fabulous progress.  He's already at 3 pounds 6 ounces...  he eating well and continuing to grow.  Now we just need to get feeding down.

  1. Yaay for baby Dylan! He is making such remarkable progress. It truly makes me smile the fighter that he is. That pic of him in the big boy crib makes me smile so much. Soon enough he'll be home with you in his own crib.
